It was found that 28.6 percent of the beneficiaries' income comes from that program. Assuming the removal of those transfers, the percentage of people without the capability to access the food basic supplies increases from 55.7 to 76.1 percent. A 10 percent increase in transfers does not have a significant effect on the welfare level. In comparison, the reduction of the same percentage value results in an increase of poverty to 87.5 percent in relation to a minimum welfare line.El objetivo del presente estudio es determinar la importancia de las trasferencias de gobierno, a través del Programa Oportunidades, en el ingreso de las familias beneficiarias, y el efecto que producen en su bienestar. Se tomó como referencia el caso de la comunidad San Bartolomé  Quialana, Oaxaca, donde se encontró que 28.6 por ciento de los ingresos de los beneficiarios provienen del programa.  Si las trasferencias se eliminaran, el porcentaje de individuos sin capacidad de acceso a la canasta alimentaria se incrementaría de 55.7 a 76.1. Un aumento de 10 por ciento en las trasferencias no tiene efecto significativo en el bienestar.
