Financiamientos para la agricultura comercial de Sinaloa: 1932-1949: el creciente papel de los actores privados regionales y estadounidenses

Abstract

The agricultural development experienced in Sinaloa during the 20th century cannot be explained without the conjunction of diverse factors, financial support being among the outstanding ones. This article will deal with financial support because of its importance: the growth and harvest of agricultural crops, as well as their commercialization, and above all their export, depended mainly on regular investments of personal wealth, loans, and private and public capital, in this case, state and federal. We want to explore credit granting to the tomato venture, channeled through institutions created expressly to promote commercial agriculture. This represented an essential aspect for tomato export.

El desarrollo agrícola experimentado por Sinaloa en el siglo XX no puede explicarse sin la conjunción de diversos factores, entre los que destaca el financiero. Éste se aborda aquí debido a su relevancia: no sólo la siembra y recolección de lo producido, sino también su comercialización y sobre todo su exportación dependían en gran medida de las inversiones continuas de capital propio y ajeno, privado y público, en este último caso estatal y federal. El objetivo es explorar el otorgamiento de crédito a la empresa tomatera, canalizado a través de instituciones creadas ex profeso para incentivar la agricultura comercial. Este fue un factor decisivo para la exportación de tomate.
