Segregación socioespacial y accesibilidad al empleo en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (2000-2004)

Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the spatial relationship between the socio-spatial hierarchy index and the employment accessibility index in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, through the use of spatial analysis methods. The methodology was developed in two stages: first, the socio-spatial hierarchy and employment accessibility indices were constructed; second, their spatial relationship was studied by analyzing spatial autocorrelation and local indicators of spatial association. The data used to construct the indices came from the Population and Housing Census (INEGI, 2000) and Economic Census (INEGI, 2004). Spatial analysis was carried out using the Geoda software, developed by the Geoda Center for Geospatial Analysis and Computation. The results prove the spatial relationship between residential segregation and access to employment centers, as well as the identification of homogeneous clusters of census tracts with a high or low level of socio-spatial hierarchy and access to employment, which helps identify clusters of social exclusion.En este artículo se analizó la relación espacial entre el índice de jerarquía socioespacial y el índice de accesibilidad a centros de empleo en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, mediante el análisis exploratorio de datos espaciales, en dos etapas; en la primera se construyeron los índices mencionados y en la segunda se revisó su relación espacial, a través del mismo análisis, en específico de la autocorrelación espacial y el análisis con indicadores locales de asociación espacial. Para la construcción de los índices se usó información de los censos de población y vivienda y el económico por ageb. El análisis espacial se llevó a cabo mediante el software Geoda. Los resultados probaron la relación espacial entre la segregación residencial y la accesibilidad a los centros de empleo, así como la identificación de agrupamientos homogéneos de agebs con un alto o bajo índice de jerarquía socioespacial y accesibiliadad al empleo, que permiten identificar clusters de exclusión social.
